Our Heritage Consultant Jess provided expert professional advice as the Conservation Consultee for the Development Management Team at Rochdale Borough Council to support the processing of planning and listed building consent applications.
Works included analysis of development proposals in alignment with legislation and both national and local planning policy to ensure that schemes would not result in a harmful impact to heritage assets. Feedback included historic site analysis, significance analysis, impact assessments, best practice guidance and design solutions along with providing example technical specifications and works methodologies for traditional materials.
Schemes included a Grade II* listed mill complex which is being considered for enabling development, a non-designated mill complex within a conservation area and repairs to a Grade I listed building.
Result
The provision of this service enabled the Planning Department to continue processing applications without delay, meet determination deadline targets and subsequently continue to bring in revenue to the Council.
